Terms of Use

These terms apply to use of Fontana Residents Directory. Accessing or using the reference means that you accept the terms below. Do not use it if you do not agree.

1. The Reference and Its Role

Fontana Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections concerning Fontana, San Bernardino County, and California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with Fontana, the county, the state, a court, a library, or another records custodian.

2. Lawful Use Rules

Use the pages and linked resources only for lawful purposes. You may not use information reached through them to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act
  • Make an FCRA-regulated decision about credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another covered matter
  • Scrape, republish, or copy the content at scale
  • Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the service

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

The service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. The pages and linked search outputs are not consumer reports. They may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose regulated by the FCRA.

4. External Portals and Providers

County and state portals, libraries, courts, archives, sponsored search tools, and other linked providers set their own terms and privacy practices. Fontana Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, pricing, data handling, or results.

5. No Warranties

The reference is provided as is and as available. No warranty is made that a page, link, portal, record description, coverage statement, or search result is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from use of the reference or an external resource, including an action taken from a record found through it.

7. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless the operators from claims, demands, losses, and reasonable attorneys' fees arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Copyright and Site Materials

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief attributed passage is welcome. Full-page republication or systematic copying is not permitted without permission.

9. Revisions

Terms may change when a new version is posted. Continuing to use the reference after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Access Restrictions

The operators may block, limit, or suspend access for conduct that violates these terms, abuses the service, threatens its security, or creates unreasonable load. That action may occur without advance notice.

11. California Law

California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000, governs qualifying requests to California agencies, not the private operation of this reference. Court case access follows court rules and statutes.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
